When Amazon first recommended this book to me, I though, "Boys in bands? Oh, hell yes I'm going to read this."And I did. And I loved it.The only reason I didn't finish it in one sitting is because I went out for a belated birthday dinner with friends. But I could not stop thinking about it. I could not put it down.My favorite part about Ms. Novak's book (aside, of course, from the cute boys in The Heartbreakers), was her writing style, her voice, and particularly her humor. I found myself laughing out loud on multiple occasions. I also couldn't help but smile whenever she referenced Disney, Twilight, or Harry Potter. What can I say? I'm just a girl who loves her pop culture references.Speaking of, I would highly recommend this book to anyone, but particularly to those who love bands, especially (and I'm not sure whether this was intentional or not) 5 Seconds of Summer. I love them. My sister and I are even going to see them in concert this summer. I am definitely going to make her read this before we go.Aside from the wit and the Disney shout-outs, I particularly loved the characters. I will not enjoy a book if I don't connect to the characters, but I loved them all. By the end of the novel, I felt like we were friends, and I was very disappointed to come to the end. I can't help but notice that GoodReads references this book as The Heartbreaker Chronicles #1, so I am very much hoping for a sequel in the near future.Thank you, Ms. Novak, for such amazing characters and a glimpse behind the scenes of life with The Heartbreakers!

It's an Ok book... Here's the honest truth. I really like this author, I think she writes very well. But for some reason it's just ok is because I just couldn't get attached to our Hero in this book. I loved Stella, she is our main character and the story is told from her point of view, which is done very well. It starts off great, there was chemistry in the beginning when Stella and Oliver first meet, but it never grows beyond that point. Even after they get together the relationship doesn't grow, if anything it kinda goes down hill after that. Not only that but Oliver hides things that would in no way effect their relationship at all. An example of this is his family. (SPOILERS) He leads her to believe that his mom is still alive and he still had plenty of family. I mean come one, if he were uncomfortable with going into details Stella wouldn't have pride, but to dodge her questions and tell her his mom would love to meet her when his mom is dead...not cool. Then taking the model on their date while standing her up at the hotel, only to have his FRIENDS tell her that he took someone else on the date she was supposed to be on, while she waited for him to pick her up all night. Yeah the love just wasn't there for me, which sucked because it was a great storyline. Now for the good. I LOVED Stella and the secondary characters where amazing. They flowed together beautifully. You really felt the friendship between all of the guys and with her siblings. They were great. This story was well written the only problem as I said was the Oliver, which lets face it when you're reading a book like this you really WANT to cheer for the main characters, but for me chemistry just wasn't there . I did like the ending That for me was great and would have been better if I actually liked Oliver more...

This was so much more than I expected! It was fun and light and fluffy, and overall the perfect definition of a summer read. Yes, but it was also a bit more than that. There was a perfect balance between Stella's home life, her personal struggles- her fears and anxieties- and the whole bag of crazy that unravels when she and Drew embark in this adventure to out-present Cara, that ends up turning Stella's life upside down, making her step out of her comfort zone, face her fears and her future, and giving her as much a second chance as Cara's treatment is giving her. This story definitely came with a bit more depth than a simple fluffy summer read. And it was all so expertly woven that it flowed really well.First, before delving any deeper, a quick disclaimer: my disbelief wasn't put much into suspension, because in my personal experience, even the simple act of "girl meets boy who she happens to end up hitting it off and falling in love with" is as fictitious as any other scenario, so I wasn't really bothered by this particular plot, even though to some it may seem "fanfiction-y" (which I reckon it kinda is, but it doesn't bother me as much as it would in other cases). That out of the way, this was overall a very enjoyable read. The plot and the characters (and characters' dynamics, which is one of my favorite elements to take into account while reading) was clear and organized and very well executed.Stella was a relatable character, as well as interesting, someone I really enjoyed reading about, someone who was easy for me to picture as a real person. Her family as well. I enjoyed the siblings dynamics a lot, and I loved how unique each of their personalities was.Speaking of unique personalities, it's important to point out how well-crafted the Heartbreakers' characters were. It would have been so easy to end up with a pretty bland and homogeneous group of boys with little to no personality, but as it turns out, they all had a distinct personality and a voice that made each easily identifiable. Plus, they were so charming! Watch me gush about Alec in my updates, just in case (and it's only a bit embarrassing, given that it's been a long time since I was a teenager).Last, but not least, I really enjoyed the romance. It was sweet and soft and fun... Exactly what I was needing.
