The eBook and the version of the paperback showing the two eyes in a frame are not the Kaufmann translation. This translation is OK, but you should know that the product information is incorrect.Additionally, the two versions I refer to use ALL CAPS instead of italics. Nietzsche loves his italics, especially in BGE. It's like he's screaming every other sentence.

This is the third book I've read of Nietzsche's. The first was a collection from various writings, and the second was "The Anti-Christ." Beyond Good and Evil was Nietzsche's attempt to summarize his entire philosophy into one book. I don't know if I'd ever call anything Nietzsche wrote a summary, but this book does lay out his principles in black-and-white, and it did help me put some of the pieces together.Below are a few of my takeaways. It's not a summary, because I don't even know if that's possible. So I just wanted to share a few things I've picked up on.On the will to power:If modern (nineteenth century) man is no longer going to believe in God, or at least if they're going to tone down His influence a bit, the next logical step for them was the concept of free will. In a post-enlightenment world, people were trying to understand if there really is a God pulling our strings like puppets. If they weren't going to believe that, the next logical step was free will. Nietzsche rejects free will and instead believes in the will to power. Essentially the will to power is his phrase that means people should aim to take power over themselves and create a "superman" or "overman" out of themselves. Nietzsche sees this as an alternative to the concept of free will.On religion -Another thing that I noticed about Nietzsche after reading a fair bit of his work is that, as critical as he is of Christianity, he seems to have a bit of an affinity for Buddhism, or at least the principles of Buddhism. Buddhism's primary concept is "life is suffering," right? Nietzsche writes extensively about suffering as well, arguing in part that the cause of all great human advancement is suffering. In the Anti-Christ, he often points out that Buddhism is better than Christianity. To be fair, there was a pretty short list of things that weren't better than Christianity, according to Nietzsche.I love the short epigrams and how Nietzsche is capable of concentrating so much meaning into such few words-"Blessed be the forgetful: for they forget their stupidities, too.""Whoever reaches his ideal transcends 'eo ipso.'""'Where the tree of knowledge stands, there is always Paradise': thus speak the oldest and the youngest serpents."*eo ipso = thereby

This ebook is illegible. Someone just did an OCR scan of an existing translation, without fixing any of the problems. About once a sentence, two or more words are crammed together likethis.

The written material in this book is acceptable but the book itself, that being the page is not upon opening the book I discovered this. The first three pages had the top right-hand corner are bent to an angle as to where they are not attached to the binding and thus make an indent into the cover of the book which ruins the pristine and beautiful image on the cover with a bulge that is clearly visible. I request a refund or at the very least new copy of this book that is free of misprints.

Terrible print job, Create Space. Margins are microscopic, spacing is awful, text is crammed in so tightly I need reading glasses. Buy any other copy.Good words, bad publisher.

Great translation by Judith Norman! I much prefer it to the standard Walter Kaufmann translation.

Many can write more informed opinions on this book. I can merely say I have read it 7 times in the last two years and each time I gain a new insight into Nietzsche's thoughts about how humans can live joyful, productive lives in the face of constant reminders that the world and existence are unpredictable, cruel, often vicious and threatening, The ideas presented here are expanded in his later work.He has a terrific sense of humor. I prefer Walter Kaufmann's translations.

Nietzsche was brilliantly crazy or crazy brilliant, perhaps it was both. Not an obvious genius, but his wisdom is counter-intuitive and worthy of reflection. He was perhaps the most brilliant philosopher of his time, certainly not the most conventional--but arguably the most sagacious about many matters. It is a shame that he descended into madness. He is not to be read quickly, because in so doing you will miss the point. Worth reading and reflecting on, particularly if you study philosophy seriously.

Years ago I saw the TV movie "Doublecrossed" about the government's involvement in using Barry Seal to transport weapons to the Contras and returning with cocaine which was sold on the streets of America with the support of our government. When Seal was arrested by police, he was promised by his handlers that they would arrange for his release. Nobody showed up in court for him and he was sentenced to do time at a halfway house, where it was guaranteed that he'd be killed and he was.Having been in law enforcement for many years, it was no secret that much of the drugs that were sold on the streets of America were also being brought into the country with the knowledge and full support of certain government officials. Mena, Arkansas, while Bill Clinton was governor, was known as the "Little Columbia of America." Clinton's brother Roger was a drug dealer and user, eventually being sentenced to prison, and pardoned by his brother Bill when Bill was President. Roger always claimed that Bill used cocaine and "had a nose like a vacuum cleaner," something that has been corroborated by others over the years. There was also a movie about an American journalist who was captured in Nicaragua and despite the pleas of his family in the US, our government did nothing to secure his release and he was executed in Nicaragua. HIs family felt and publicly stated that he had obviously seen something that our government didn't want brought to public attention. Shortly after the journalist's execution, the Iran Contra scandal was broken to the American people. I personally believe that the journalist found about the exchange of weapons for drugs that was set up by our government, exchanges that were handled by Barry Seal (a very talented, fearless pilot) and his crew of specially selected, Seal trained pilots. This book, while not mentioning the execution of the American journalist, definitely exposes the true nature of the Iran Contra affair, and exposes the players--Oliver North, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and the CIA. Nowhere does it mention Reagan and it is entirely possible that Reagan was ignorant of how the US was being paid back for the weapons they were sending to the Contras.Barry Seal proved to his attorney that he had a direct line to George H.W. Bush's office (while Bush was Vice President), his attorney dialed the number and was connected to the VP's office. The planes that Seal and his crew used to transport weapons to the Contras and returned with drugs were high tech planes equipped with instruments that only some govenment planes were equipped with. Seal kept records of his dealings with our government officials, agencies, and the drug cartels, making him dangerous to many people. After reading this book, it is very understandable why George H.W. Bush and members of his family voted for Hillary Clinton. For those who were surprised and how friendly Bill Clinton and George H.W. Bush were after both were out of office, this book explains their connection that went back years before George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton were ever President of the US. When Oliver North testified that he needed a great deal of security around his home because he was afraid of the most dangerous man in the world, Al Gore asked him who he was so afraid of, and North responded, "Osama bin Laden." Gore laughed (naturally this was years before bin Laden was tied to terrorist acts against America), but after reading this book, bin Laden wouldn't be the only person North feared.I love America, but I also have no doubt that corruption has existed for many years among those elected to political office. This series of books are an interesting read, but difficult since conspiracies always have so many twists and turns that it's hard for anyone to "connect the dots." That's why conspiracies are usually so successful, particularly when run out of the highest offices in our land.

As an American Citizen, this book has made me realize that I need to research multiple sources before believing the information that the news makes public. Our countries leaders need to be held accountable for their actions, as they have corrupted justice and made our prison systems a profitable organization, instead of a place of safety and reform. I give this book the highest rating possible for its ethical approach to the issues of drugs and the governments exploitation of the people involved with them.

His sources for this book is a made for TV movie about Barry Seal, Oliver Stone's JFK, and a bunch of conspiracy theory websites. From that he crafts a book of bull plop. He also spends an inordinate amount of time on who killed JFK. SPOILER: in the first part of the book it is Lyndon Johnson who had JFK killed. In the latter half it was George HW Bush who had JFK killed. The author can't even keep his conspiracy theories straight.Save your money.

This book is so interesting. You will NOT be able to put it down. It's UNBELIEVABLE! It's one of those Art imitates life/life imitates Art stories. So good. I highly recommend this book.

If only one bit of the events narrated in this book are true (and I believe most did happen) it's enough to blow your mind. The systematic conniving, covering-up, corruption, and murders by the American government officials involved is a disgrace to democratic beliefs. America likes to blow its horn at third world countries denouncing their corruption but they can be just the same.A real eye-opener. I'd like to know more about where the author gets all his information and how well backed-up it is but congratulations on a book to put American politicians and government institutions to shame.

Wow. Talk about an eye opener. I was basically a kid when all this was going on. I really only knew the headlines of what was on the news back then; the War on Drugs, Iran Contra, Just Say No, the Columbian Cartels. The key element to an outsider’s perspective is that they see what the person living in the sphere of discussion doesn’t.
Shaun Attwood’s analysis of what REALLY went on during this time is nothing short of jaw dropping. The adage “truth is stranger than fiction” certainly lives up to its meaning. This book will make you seriously question the powers that be and it will certainly beg the question of whose interests our leaders really have at heart. American Made is a great read.Â

Make sure you vote every four years and post your political memes on your Facebook. Pay your taxes to the crown and go the speed limit. If this book doesn't make you question the current state of affairs in America then nothing else will.Shaun has the biggest brass cojones to tell the stories he does and risk his life telling the truth.

Shaun is a genius. Love this book as much as the rest. Can not say one is better than the others they all taught me valuable life lessons and this one will turn your world upside down (unless you already new how corrupt our leaders were)

Guitar Lessons: A Life's Journey Turning Passion into Business, by Bob Taylor

From the Inside Flap

It was the summer of '72 when seemingly disparate interests harmonized into a single clarion call for a teenage Bob Taylor. Longing to own a 12-string guitar but unable to afford one, Taylor built his first guitar in shop class during his junior year of high school. As his desire to make music and his talent for building things converged, Taylor experienced an epiphany that revealed his vocational path. He had discovered that making guitars would be his life's work, even though he had no real blueprint to guide him. In Guitar Lessons, Taylor shares stories of how a lifelong passion led to a pioneering business. From his humble beginnings at a guitar shop near San Diego, aptly named The American Dream, through the early struggles of founding and sustaining Taylor Guitars with his business partner, Kurt Listug (who's still CEO today), Taylor recounts the valuable lessons that enabled two driven "kids" to overcome formidable obstacles and grow their small guitar shop into a world-renowned guitar brand. Today, Taylors are the guitars of choice for serious musicians. Players as diverse in style as Dave Matthews, Prince, Zac Brown, Jason Mraz, Neil Young, Taylor Swift, and many more of today's biggest names proudly strum their Taylors both onstage and in the studio. Along with these stars, thousands and thousands of other musicians—pro and amateur—choose Taylor. This wasn't always so. Guitar Lessons takes you back to when the company was just a handful of devoted craftsmen working with little more than pluck and perseverance to breathe life into their fledgling enterprise, learning hard lessons about business and life along the way that would pay off years later. Through anecdotes that blend self-deprecating wit with grassroots wisdom, Bob Taylor reflects on the key experiences and personal revelations that nurtured the company's growth. Guitar Lessons will give you a fresh perspective on how the fundamental values of hard work and determination can be applied to overcome challenges in business and life, leading to success and personal fulfillment. Amid today's mass-production culture, Taylor's philosophy as a modern-day craftsman and respected leader serves as a compass for "crafting" a meaningful life. Many people try to take their passion and turn it into a business. Many fail. Some sell out along the way. Bob Taylor found his love as a teenager, worked hard at it, and created a profitable, growing enterprise, which he still happily stewards alongside Listug. If you've ever wondered how truly unique companies come to be, you'll be inspired by Bob's Guitar Lessons.

From the Back Cover

Bob Taylor knows what it takes to make a great guitar. He also knows what it takes to make 500 great guitars every single day. It takes perseverance, hard work, a willingness to learn, and dedication to your life's passion. Guitar Lessons delivers a story of having what it takes—not just to succeed eventually—but most importantly, to survive those grueling early years. Nearly every successful company came from meager beginnings, and Taylor Guitars is no exception. In 1974, Bob Taylor and his partner, Kurt Listug, then just a couple of kids, embarked on a journey to own their own guitar company. They instantly found themselves tempest-tossed, bailing water out of a leak-prone workshop, constantly struggling to make a buck, and tackling ever more complex problems. Taylor shares each epiphany, each nugget of wisdom that encouraged him to overcome the obstacles, shaped his knowledge of manufacturing, and helped him transform his passion into a lucrative business. Today, Taylor Guitars is one of the world's most successful and highly regarded acoustic and electric guitar manufacturers. This is the story of how it all came to be. Q&A with Author Bob Taylor Author Bob Taylor What inspired you to write this book? The opportunity was presented to me, and the time just seemed right. Sometimes, I think, if you do these things too early, it’s a waste of time. In our case, it seems as if everything is right for people to want to read the book. How would you describe Guitar Lessons to someone who has little knowledge of Taylor? It’s a book of business lessons learned through experience and told in story form. It’s the story of starting a business as a teenager based on a craft I fell in love with, and really, how it turned into a major business by bringing great people in with me and persevering through the years. Is there content in the book that will surprise existing Taylor Guitars owners? I think people familiar with the company will see it as a more in-depth and candid story than what they are going to read in a blog, article, or company profile. In a book format, there’s enough time to go into depth. There are lots of Taylor guitar owners. We’ve sold a million guitars, and 750,000 of those have only recently joined our customer base in the last six or seven years. This will give them a better insight into our story and where we came from. What lessons do you want readers to leave with? The main lessons are that it takes perseverance and the ability to knock down obstacles as you go. There’s no singular thing that acts as a turning point in a business and gets you to finally “make it.” There may be 25 things that you need to solve for your business to be successful. Maybe you have to get to where eight or nine are solved just to stay in business, and then you go from there. But you must continue to own something, whether it means learning how to do production, marketing your products, or taking care of employees. You can run a car with six pistons, but it takes all eight pistons to fire for the car to really run great.

An absolute delight to read, especially if you happen (like me) to love both guitars and entrepreneurial tales. Bob has a low-key, straight-forward, common-sense approach to life, business, guitars, it seems--and that is reflected in his writing. Bottom-line is that it is a very enjoyable read, and especially towards the end, offers a lot of insightful, practical tips on business and leadership as well. I have played a few Taylors and they are beautiful guitars. One of these days I will be taking the tour at the factory in El Cajon, CA--and sooner or later will likely add a Taylor to my collection of fine guitars, too!

Full Disclosure: I sampled numerous Taylor guitars in my local guitar shop for years, I participated in a Taylor Guitars factory tour in 2009, and I purchased a Taylor guitar at the conclusion of that tour. I absolutely love my Taylor GS-K.So, I was very intrigued when I learned Bob Taylor was writing a book. I pre-ordered it on Amazon and waited. While I cooled my heels I learned more. I heard that it wouldn't be a typical book for brand or hobby fans, it would have a business flavor. But it wouldn't be a typical "how I did it" business tome. Well, what would it be then? When GUITAR LESSONS arrived, I tore into it and completed it in 3 nights. It took a minute to get used to the style and direction - it is mildly off-beat, in a good way. In fact, as I read more, I learned that the writing is, in fact, exactly ON target. It IS Bob Taylor. It is just as unique as he is, and, once you warm to his style, it becomes comfortable. We get to know Bob just a little. In an nutshell, I describe the book as a passionate engineer and craftsman writing his version of a business book. Bob's style is to tell stories and share lessons learned - all while heavily infusing our journey with his passion for building and enhancing guitars.Or, maybe it is an engineering autobiography, focused on the process and product.Who will enjoy this book? Luthiers, musicians, business people, entrepreneurs, engineers, marketers, and more. While easy to read and understand, it is as rich and complicated as its author. The more I think of it, this might be why I describe the book as "off-beat". Bob Taylor has managed to weave a complex and meaningful business and life, capture it in a book, and make it easy and fun to absorb.Well done!

To protect me from the next new business fad I read a lot of business books for what I call self-defense. This is not your typical business book. You can read it without fear of being sucked into the next new thing. It is a story of a company that enters a crowded business segment, a segment with long product traditions, and changes everything. It is also a book that addresses the more heady topics of the nature of "equity", the relations between company owners and employees, the concept of lean manufacturing and "one piece flow", the impact of technology on a manufacturing process, and the change that must occur with company growth. As an employee of a company in the music business but in a far different segment than Taylor I have long admired their ability to grow in a very mature and crowded market place. Bob Taylor reveals the secret.. work, work, work, and then more work for 40 years.I highly recommend this book and a careful reading will tell you more about the realities of business than a 100 by the self promoting so called business gurus.

As a longtime guitar player and budding luthier, I rushed out to buy this book as soon as it was released. Honestly, I was looking forward to reading the "juicy details" much more than the business advice (I assume this is true of most people who pick up this book); I wanted to learn about Taylor's unique guitar construction methods and the chronology of events that gradually led Bob & company to become a household name among guitar players. While there IS plenty of that anecdotal material contained within these pages, there's also a fair amount of very dry business chatter. Certainly Bob Taylor has much advice to offer entrepreneurs on the subjects of trial & error, the employer/employee dynamic and plowing forward through adversity, but I found the business-heavy passages to be the least compelling and most clumsily written portions of the book; they felt repetitive and forced, as if the author were rehashing the same point over and over, with slightly different wording, to pad out the page count. Because of this, the book starts out strong and visual, but grinds to an abstract halt by the last two chapters. Perhaps if the publisher had demanded that Taylor use the same well-honed editorial eye that he employs in his guitarmaking, I would have found it to be a much breezier and more enjoyable read. Regardless, for those who want the backstory on Taylor Guitars, you can't beat hearing it straight from the horse's mouth.

Bob Taylor's autobio is easy to read. Being a Taylor Guitar owner myself, I was curious as to what goes on in the mind of my favourite guitar maker. I have read another Taylor Guitar book before but this book is from Bob's own perspective and insights. There's no magic formula for his success; it was pure hard work and perserverence and surrounded with good friends and partners like Kurt. Taylor guitar owners the world over are glad that Bob and Kurt made it through.Taylor guitars will continue to be my favourite because Bob made it good and affordable to folks like us from the other end of the earth. Unlike other established guitar makers in US which made their guitars so expensive due to the strong US conversion rates, Bob has improved on the manufaturing processes to the extent that they can be made in large volumes and with consistent production quality. I have two Taylor guitars and my guitar friends have tried them with envy because of the easy playability right up the high frets because of Taylor guitar's thin necks. Another thing is that some guitars sound good with a guitar amplifier but mediocre without the amp. Taylors guitars need no masking - they sound good with or without the guitar amp.Read about the above in Bob's book. Thanks Bob - we all love you and Taylor guitars!

Review

Winner of the Outdoor Book of the Year, The Great Outdoors Awards 2015, 2015 INDIEFAB Honorable Mention for Adventure & Recreation “Gooley interprets clues like a private investigator of the wilds, leaving no stone unturned . . . For those inclined to solve mysteries written into the landscape, this author’s lead is one they’ll want to follow.”—The Wall Street Journal “[Gooley] has become the global expert on natural navigation, finding his way around the world using nothing but natural clues and pointers. His discovery (made on a sailing expedition to Iceland)—that if, when at sea, you see more than 10 birds in any given five minute window this means you are within 40 miles of land—has become part of the British military’s survival guidance.”—The Daily Beast “How rare to find a book that is truly brilliant. The Lost Art of Reading Nature’s Signs, by Tristan Gooley, is brilliant in the English slang sense (as in being terrific); it is brilliant in its comprehensive conveyance of all the ways to interpret natural and man-made landscapes; and brilliance glitters from Gooley’s sparkling wit.”—Foreword “Gooley’s comprehensive volume should pique the curiosity of budding nature-lovers and is ideal for anyone keen on forging a deeper connection with the land.”—Publishers Weekly “While Gooley’s tips encompass useful, practical ways to predict a change in weather, determine when a predator may be prowling and find true North at night, his true gift is in igniting curiosity and wonder about the world around us.”—Shelf Awareness “In terms of sheer did-you-knows per page it is one of the richest, densest, most rewarding books on nature I have read in a long time . . . its joy in deduction is infectiously delightful.” —James McConnachie, The Sunday Times “I for one will never look at the . . . countryside in quite the same way again.” —Stephen Moss, Countryfile Magazine “Gooley can show the most moonstruck how to interpret their surroundings. Even the intrepid Bear Grylls could learn a trick or two from this book.”—The Times “Anyone interested in walking out of doors at any time would be well advised to read this excellent book.”—The Royal Institute of Navigation “As with his earlier, equally important The Natural Navigator, this text is densely packed with information, engagingly and clearly written . . . Every outdoor-lover should have at least one Tristan Gooley book in their library. He’s attained national treasure status, as useful and educative as he is endearingly unique.”—The Great Outdoors magazine “Learning so much […] that I might have to take another long walk”—Nicholas Crane

The lost art of reading nature's signs_ use outdoor clues to find your way_ predict the weather_ locate water_ track animals--and other forgotten by Gooley_ TristanVery interesting reading although from England some of the same signs are true here in US. Things that you see in everyday life if you are hiking along woods and forest paths.I received this book from National Library Service for my BARD (Braille Audio Reading Device).

Depending on your own personality, Tristan Gooley is either the world’s most interesting hiking partner…or…you will want to kill him within five minutes of getting out of the car. The man knows a lot about most aspects of nature, is quite observant, and loves to share his knowledge. If you feel that is enjoyable, you will like this book.=== The Good Stuff ===* Gooley has hiked in many locations throughout the world, including many in the US, Britain, Asia and Africa. He makes detailed observations, and shares both his insights and his methods for making those determinations. His wisdom includes traditional book knowledge, lessons and lore passed on from the natives, and common sense deduction. It is a remarkable tour de force of botany, biology, geology and astronomy.* While the author spends a lot of time on specific observations, the real lesson of the book is how to develop an attitude of curiosity. While many of us might see “just a tree”, Gooley sees a navigational aid, a history of the area, and clues about the local topography, climate and civilization. While these insights can span the range from useful through trivial and even go all the way to arcane, they do serve as a motivation to make your own observations and deductions. It is sort of a cross between John Muir and Sherlock Holmes.* There are a few useful gems for just about anyone. Even city dwellers will find some enjoyment in Gooley’s astronomy observations, and while much of his hiking experience is in Britain, he also discusses the flora and fauna of many parts of the United States.* Some of the best parts of the book were the time spent with “exotic” cultures. For example, from spending time on Borneo, we find the natives use some very remarkable means of navigation, and prefer to think of “upstream and downstream” rather than the Western concepts of “east and west”.=== The Not-So-Good Stuff ===* I was expecting more of a practical “how-to”, but the book is more of a motivational lecture on letting your own knowledge and observations run wild. For example, there are a number of tips for determining direction. There is the familiar “moss on the north side of trees”, rule, but there are seemingly hundreds of other techniques of direction finding. More than you could possibly remember, and indeed, more than I was interested in.* Gooley has a habit of referring to plants by their common name. This can be a little problematic, since the US and Britain can not even agree on what “corn” means. I would have preferred plants be referenced also by their Latin names to avoid any confusion.* Many of the observations become almost overwhelming and frustrating. The author has spent time with some very interesting cultures, and I would have liked to see more information on some of their novel technologies (such as the upstream/downstream navigation previously mentioned) rather than more mundane trivia.=== Summary ===If you are expecting a “Fieldbook”, I think you will be somewhat disappointed in this work. While there are numerous “tricks” for getting information about your environment, they are not organized in any way to reference them other than your memory. Rather, the book is more of a motivational guide to learning to trust your instincts and observations about your environment. I found the book enjoyable, but would have liked to see it edited a bit tighter.=== Disclaimer ===I was able to read an advance copy through the courtesy of the publisher and NetGalley

It wasn't what I expected, I thought the book was going to be more in easy to read tips and other information on Reading Nature's signs. I wasn't expecting to read about the author's life experiences. I found it to be boring.

I originally got this book out of the library, but it was so good and was packed with so much information that I bought a copy. In it he describes all kinds of fascinating clues you can observe in the world around you (both in nature and in towns) that lead to interesting deductions. He describes how to find North based on all kinds of different plants, how to understand animal and human footprints, how to read the stars, how to easily calculate the phase of the moon at any future or past date, how to understand development patterns in a city, and on and on. Tristan clearly has gotten plenty of 'dirt time' to refine his observations - this isn't an armchair guy who has just brought together a lot of ideas originally developed by other people. This book has transformed the way I view the world while out in nature.

I had read about Mr. Gooley’s courses on Natural Navigation some years ago in the Reader’s Digest I believe. At that time, I was fascinated becau7se he claimed to be able to use natural navigation in cities too. I do not live in the UK and consequently did not have easy access to the course or his teaching. I was thrilled to discover that he had put his discoveries into a book.I am one of those people who learn by reading. Yes, a picture is worth a thousand words but there are times when words are crucial. I had thought the book to be full of pictures without much context. I could not have been more wrong.Mr. Gooley starts with a masterful introduction about determining weather with the backdrop of a beech and an amorous couple. He explains about distances, the wind and clouds before segwaying into his subject. This is not a universal book. The author is clear about the geographies in which the material in the book is applicable. The book is split into several chapters; each chapter deals with a specific aspect of natural navigation. There are chapters on trees and plants, the landscape, the wind and many more, each dealing with how to use that attribute for finding your way. Yes, he does bring them all together. For those who like checklists, there are plenty of those as well. One of the most fascinating portions of the book is when he describes his walk with the Dayak. However, I wish there had been more detail. For example, how did they get away from the bees in the forest? This book is a must read for educators, math teachers and geography teachers because it illustrates how these subjects should be taught. It is much easier to understand the Pythagoras theorem by its application in crossing a river and calculating heights and distances rather than those proofs and out of context problems that students are made to solve at least when studying in India.Over all, a great read and a reference book I will return to frequently.

I bought this book because I have a horrible sense of direction. What turned out to be fun was using some of the new learned skills with my grand daughter. We used a cell phone app to check our assumptions about directors and took photos of interesting finds on walks.

Great book to read multiple times. Nicely written. Might be worth editing for an American audience by adding a few more references to hiking in the states. But easy to apply either way. Thanks
